Ageing in China

Document sans titre

Statistics tell us that China has 153 million people now over 60 and around 20% of them are in need of long term care services. That is over 30 million people.

That demographic, coupled with the fact that a growing number of Chinese children choose not to live with their parents after marriage, puts more people dependent on the government for support.

Development of home care services is a critical element in the country’s plan for addressing this issue. But they also will need to depend on local not-for-profit organizations such as the Hetong Chartable Foundation for the Aged. This article at Xinhuanet.com provides insight into the challenges and solutions being sought to address this enormous demand.

IAHSA is a global network of provider organizations, businesses, researchers, individuals and government officials, with representation in approximately 30 countries. More info www.iahsa.net
