Just equal treatment mass lobby to demonstrate the need for legislation on age discrimination in the UK

Help the Aged (U.K.), active Members of AGE, are holding a mass lobby to press for the equal treatment of older people. This will take place in Westminster, London, on 18 April 2007. It will be an opportunity to campaign for an end to age discrimination and to seek to ensure that the rights of older people are protected in UK law. All are welcome to participate.

This event falls within the window of opportunity for members of the public to lobby the UK government on their new proposals on discrimination before the final set of laws are drawn up for the Single Equalities Bill.

The mass lobby will begin at 11.30 a.m. with training on how to lobby effectively followed by speeches and information about the Just Equal treatment campaign. The lobby itself will begin at 2 p.m. when MPs will come across Parliament Square to meet with their constituents.

For more information, please contact Andrew Crooks on 00 44 (0)207 239 1955. The lobby pack and registration form to participate are available on the AGE website at:
