TriMedix(TM), Inc., recognizing the Baby Boomers' fascination with prevention and technology, announced that it has developed and begun deploying an easy to use, prevention focused, personal electronic medical record solution, MEDQUBE(TM), designed to put an individual's actual medical records and physician reports, including ultrasound, CT, MRI and PET images at their fingertips on a "password protected" USB keychain device. TriMedix(TM) intends to use this technology platform to eventually use this information application as one's proactive health butler or coach. The target customers are the 78,000,000 Baby Boomers.
This secure, password protected solution uses Lexar's JumpDrive Secure, a USB Flash Drive, to capture global individual personal medical information, including health risk assessment and family history, lab, vascular, CT, MRI, ultrasound, physician reports, genetic studies and substantive health content, and empowers individuals to store, transfer and manage their own personal medical record.
The first version of MEDQUBE(TM) is already being deployed at the Company's prevention center, The Center for Preventive Medicine(TM), the first in a national system of prevention centers being launched by TriMedix(TM). The application also provides software enabling the reading of complex images captured in CT, MRI and PET examinations for easy transport on the "key chain" USB device.
Estimates are that more than 90 percent of the dissemination of health care related records and information occurs by telephone, facsimile or paper. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson, estimates technological innovations, such as personal electronic medical records, in the health care industry could save more than $150 billion a year in medical expenses. Additional improvements could also result in a reduction of medical errors that the Institute of Medicine blames for almost 100,000 deaths annually in the United States.
Christopher T. Fey, TriMedix(TM) president and chief executive officer, said, "Our personal electronic medical record solution, MEDQUBE(TM) is focused on total capture of medical interactions, as well as improving long-term health of individuals, both quality of life and ultimate longevity. Eventually we see MEDQUBE(TM) becoming your health butler, proactively digesting information in your health care database, combining that information in a web search engine that can drive timely, best practices information specifically for you and your personal health needs. This evolution will take us from the static capture of information to using technology to drive your daily health care activities, reminders, care solutions and instantaneous best practices solutions specific to your health risks, family history, current conditions, medications and diagnostic data results."
The personal electronic medical record captures global individual health information, diagnostic results, disease and condition information. MEDQUBE(TM) will ultimately combine that data with physician review and guidance and artificial intelligence methodologies to determine best practices solutions, and then convert this information into a lifelong, customized health management plan for an individual. This system will eventually be available to consumers and their designated physicians 24 x 7 through the Internet. It is currently available only through TriMedix(TM) hospital licensees of The Center for Preventive Medicine(TM), however further deployment across the health care industry is planned.
"TriMedix's selection of Lexar JumpDrive as the portable flash storage device of choice means customers are getting one of the most reliable and secure flash drives available, something particularly vital when it comes to storing and managing medical information," said Farhad Tabrizi, Vice President, Business Development and Strategic Alliances. "JumpDrive Secure's advanced software includes 256-bit AES Encryption Technology which provide the highest level of data protection commonly available today, helping to instill confidence that important medical information is being stored securely."
TriMedix(TM) intends to become the leader in the growing field of prevention, wellness and healthy aging, including preventive health care services, technology, products and media through the development and acquisition of appropriate business models. The Company is also licensing to hospitals The Center for Preventive Medicine(TM), which is an "all disease" center of excellence in prevention and wellness. These Centers for Preventive Medicine(TM) are serving as the first deployment sites for the MEDQUBE(TM) personal electronic medical record.
"Our business platform, The Center for Preventive Medicine(TM), establishes a branded center of excellence, where all the tools and physician assistance are available to detect the risk or presence of the diseases that disable or kill our citizens at too early an age. We also make available information, consultation and long term health management tools such as MEDQUBE(TM). This is what the proactive health care consumer of today wants, and our model simplifies the process to meet this growing demand. The MEDQUBE(TM) personal electronic medical record is a centerpiece of our service platform," Fey said.
